Is watercolor less respected?
I started with the idea that Oil was the way for the most respected and high value paintings. But the pathway to that was acrylic. I started with acrylic working myself to oil, but after awhile I realized it it’s different.
Each medium is different and can express things in its own way.
Pencil is black and white, crazy results, watercolor can be smooth, fuzzy, color bright, distinct colors, acrylic is thick and colorful .
But when we look at paintings that are “respected” it’s oil usually, very rarely is it watercolor.
Is watercolor something that is pushed aside?
I love it personally. It keeps things very Imaginative. Which I love.

I think people who consider themselves gatekeepers to art prefer oil as the most respected but I personally love watercolor and ink. I don't have an ego so I don't really care what is respected or not. It's more about what I enjoy creating with and I always try to do the same for everyone else I meet regardless of what medium they create with. 🙂
