I was reading about Art history the other day and found an interesting take on the Impressionist movement and how Photography is what helped propel that along. Before photography Romanticism and Neoclassicism attempted to create realistic depictions. Once photography came along that went out of fashion and ushered in Impressionism and abstract expressionism. This evolved into Cubism, Pop Art, Minimalism and more.
What would you say is the current Art movement that is taking up many of the galleries and bringing the world new Artists? Photorealism? Abstract Organic? Fictional Landscape? (Kinkaid) Contemporary?
It seems to me that there is no real movement right now that I or we could put our finger on. It is all just a mashup of things past. What do you think?

This is a picture of a local Art Gallery near me. As you can see the art is very different. Note: This is not my Art.
That's a great question I think the current climate when it comes to art is different than any other time in history. With the ability to gravitate toward what interests you and find a group of people across the Internet who share in your passions, it seems what we have is an "all at once" type of atmosphere. However, I do not pay attention to galleries at all. I do go see some galleries but I don't use them as a measuring stick for what is happening in the art world. Now it's more like, what is this particular gallery promoting and many times it isn't even the dominant type of art in that area.
It's a fun question to think about.
