I like the texture of the cold press and rough. I think it creates a 'watercolor' look. If I ever do a large piece - 20"×24" and up - I'll use rough since I wouldn't be working with fine details. When I work on smaller pieces, say 4"×6", I like hot press for the smooth surface that allows for crisp fine details. But I mostly use cold-press as it works for small and large and everything in between.
